Celebration of Kwanzaa

Come join us to celebrate Kwanzaa in the Hospitality Management building on Wednesday December 6, 2023 between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Learn about the history of Kwanzaa through music, dance and food.

What is Kwanzaa?

Every December, the Humanities 018 course (led by Dr. David Piper) , celebrates Kwanzaa with the Mission College and West Valley College community. Created in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga of Cal State Long Beach, the Professor and Chairman of Black Studies combined aspects of several different harvest celebrations to form the basis of the holiday.
