Placement and Assessment Services

English, Math & ESL Placement 

You must apply to the college and receive a Mission College student ID number before you use these tools to receive your placements. Once you receive your placement you will need to log into My Mission Portal and register.

Any student seeking to enroll in transfer-level Math or English must complete the English/Math Placement Assistance Tool prior to registration.  Completion of the tool also satisfies one requirement to earn priority registration status for students. Start English/Math Placement Assistance Tool

Additional information about placement for English and Math Courses 

New ESL (English as a Second Language) students who wish to take for credit courses, ESL 940 or above,  MUST complete the placement process. Students wishing to enroll in noncredit ESL, currently do not need to complete ESL placement.

*All students have the right to access transfer-level coursework in Math and English, and academic credit ESL coursework. Mission College uses your high school performance data to determine placement in English and Math, and offers a guided self-placement option for those unable to provide this data or for those who wish to explore the range of course offerings.  

Prerequisite Clearance/Assessment 

We also offer assistance with various assessment and prerequisite clearance processes which can help you achieve your educational goals more quickly by connecting you with various methods to benefit from your prior learning, including learning from high school, other colleges, standardized exams, military service, and more.
