STEM Diversity Initatives

As part of Mission College's Student Equity PlanSSSP Plan, and the college's role as a U.S. Department of Education Title III Minority Serving Institution AANAPISI, the college is committed to educate a talented homegrown workforce that reflects the rich cultural diversity local to Silicon Valley.

Given the college's location in the heart of Silicon Valley, Mission College has placed added emphasis in fostering a diverse environment in which students of all backgrounds feel empowered to succeed in the STEM disciplines.

Mission College's STEM Student Services welcomes educational, community and corporate partners to take part in Mission College's STEM Institutional Diversity Advisory Committee to help assess the needs, expectations, and satisfaction of the constituencies Mission serves and to ensure we are adequately educating the diverse STEM workforce of the future.

At this meeting we will discuss topics such as:

  • Gaps in educational attainment and knowledge of opportunity with local students
  • Opportunities to align industry and community needs with initiatives at Mission College
  • Initiatives underway by Mission College to increase the diverse talent entering the STEM workforce
