The fire service is one of the most dynamic employers in the country. This program is designed to provide the student with updated skills and knowledge necessary to complete and successfully apply for fire service careers. The curriculum serves as an in-service program as well as a pre-employment program for students seeking employment or advancement in the profession of fire fighting and fire prevention technology.

Note: some career options may require more than two years of college study. Classes beyond the Associate Degree level may be required for preparation for transfer to a university program.

Learning Outcomes
Fire Protection Technology AS Degree
- To provide the Fire Protection Technology students with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively carry out the duties of an entry level firefighter.
- To provide the student an opportunity to meet the State Board of Fire Services training and educational requirements for certification as a Fire Fighter I.
- To provide a Statewide uniform Fire Technology Curriculum that meets transfer requirements to the California State University system.
Emergency Medical Technician
- To provide the knowledge and skills necessary to perform as an EMT at the scene of an incident or emergency
- To provide the knowledge and skills necessary to become certified as an Emergency Medical Technician
