Admission Requirements

Students in a degree program in California must be either 18 years old or a high school graduate. If you are neither of these, please contact our office at (408) 855-5110 and speak to an advisor. If you plan to attend our intensive English program, you must be 17 years old. In addition,

  • You must have a "C" average or higher from high school. This is important because it is an indicator of your likely success in college.
  • If you want to go directly to the degree program because you have an appropriate TOEFL score, you must send us an official copy of your TOEFL score.
  • You must also have official English copies of your high school and/or college transcripts.

Important Message About Paying Intensive English Program Tuition!

  1. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Personal Checks, Money Orders or Cashier's Checks for Application Fees. (You may pay application fees for the intensive and degree prorams this way.)
  2. For the Intensive English Program only: We accept Visa, Mastercard, Cashier's Checks or money orders for tuition payments to the Intensive English Program until the Friday before each session begins. Beginning on the Fridays before the Intensive Program begins, we accept only Cashier's Checks! (Note: We no longer accept personal checks.)
  3. If you will be an intensive language program student and do not understand this payment policy, contact us! Thank you.

I have a TOEFL score*    I do not have a TOEFL score

*If you select "I have a TOEFL score*" it means that you have an official TOEFL score of at least 61 on the iBT (Internet-Based TOEFL).

If you have a TOEFL of 500 or higher on the Institutional TOEFL, telephone our office first at (408) 855-5110 because there are special rules for the Institutional TOEFL. We are sorry, but we cannot accept scores from other U.S. tests or foreign tests in lieu of a TOEFL score.
