Veronica  Mendoza Hand

Counselor, Student Support Services

Veronica Mendoza Hand is a Counselor at Mission College. She joined Mission College in 2016. In addition to her experience at Mission College, Veronica worked at San Jose State University as a counselor for the EOP program and for Counseling & Psychological Services. 

Her areas of interest include career/job exploration, growth mindset, time-management and various study skills. Like the other counseling faculty, she provides general counseling and advisement for all students seeking certificates, degrees and/or transfer pathways.

M.S. Counseling, San Jose State University

M.A. Social Sciences in Education/focus in Higher Ed., Stanford University

B.A. Journalism/minor in Spanish, San Jose State University 

Fast Facts

Veronica is a first generation college student. She was raised in East San Jose and later moved to Santa Clara and took a few courses at Mission College before completing her Bachelor’s from SJSU and Master’s Degree from SJSU and Stanford.  She believes higher education can provide opportunities that would not otherwise be available, especially for first-generation, low-income students like herself.

She is married and has two young daughters that keep her busy when she is outside of work.  She enjoys trying to keep balance in her life by exercising, sometimes eating healthy and spending time with family.
